Option 2

1. Define Your Purpose

Think about what you want to use your summerhouse or shed for. Will it be a quiet retreat, a creative art/crafts space, storage, a garden bar, or simply somewhere to relax with friends and family? Knowing the purpose makes your vision stronger and helps us design a structure that truly fits your lifestyle.

2. Placement

Next, consider where in your garden the summerhouse/shed will go. Ask yourself:

  • How accessible will it be from your home?

  • Will it fit well with the rest of your outdoor space?

  • Does the size work in the spot you have in mind?

At this stage, it’s enough to take rough measurements of the available area to see what could fit.

3. Sketch Your Vision

Once you know the purpose and location, it’s time to put your idea on paper. Create a simple bird’s-eye sketch of your summerhouse/shed with the rough measurements you’ve taken. This doesn’t need to be perfect, just clear enough to show the shape (e.g., square, rectangular) and layout with a height. A sketch helps us better understand your vision and how to bring it to life.

4. Plan Windows & Doors

Finally, think about where you’d like your doors and windows. Place doors in spots where they’ll be easy to access and not blocked by other garden features. On your sketch, mark their locations and note approximate distances from the nearest wall or corner. This small detail gives us the information we need to design the structure exactly how you want it.

Things to Consider & Do

Roof material and design

There are many types of roof materials and styles to choose from. Think about which option best fits your vision and budget, whether you want something simple and practical, or a design that makes more of a statement.

Guttering

Consider whether you’d like to collect rainwater from your summerhouse roof. A simple guttering system can funnel water into barrels, providing a free and eco-friendly supply for your garden.

A Bace

If the ground where you want to build your summerhouse is uneven, a solid base will be required. This ensures the structure is level, stable, and built to last.
